Garages
A garage is a room too.
Attached or detached, one bay or three, heated or not, tall enough for a lift or not. Build it here, see the range, and send it to us to measure.
Start from one of ours
Garage or carport
Attached or detached
The house it attaches to (so the roof and walls line up with it)
Roughly how long the wall it attaches to is. The house is drawn bigger than the garage unless you say otherwise.

Workshop bay (extra width beside the vehicles)
Depth
Floor (at grade, or over a basement)
Way down to the basement
Roof
Which way it drains (a lean-to leans against the house and drains away from it)
Carport roof
Roof pitch
Roof material
Framing
Doors
Door layout
Siding
Colour
Trim
Windows
Man doors (right wall first, then the back, then the left)

Worth thinking about
The three questions we ask before the first line is drawn.
Will you heat it?
Decide now, not later: insulation, vapour barrier and the electrical are cheap on day one and expensive on day 400.
Will there ever be a lift?
A lift wants 12-ft walls and a thicker slab under it. Three more feet of wall costs a fraction of a second garage.
What goes upstairs?
Attic trusses turn the roof into storage — or a room, if the permit allows. Ask before the trusses are ordered.
A boot room, because it’s January
Most Alberta and Saskatchewan houses have exactly one door between the winter and the living room. A small entry addition at the man door — sunroom-style, or framed and sided like a mini garage — gives you a second door, a place for the boots and the dog, and a house that stops losing its heat every time someone comes in. Pick it under Boot room above.
Permits: a detached garage needs a development and building permit in most municipalities; we pull them in our name. Setbacks, lot coverage and the survey come first — [Makez confirms the rules for Edmonton, Strathcona, Parkland, St. Albert and Saskatchewan municipalities it works in].
Send us the garage. We’ll check the lot.
