Bathrooms
Waterproofed and finished properly the first time.
A bathroom is a small room with the most water, the most wiring per square foot and the least forgiveness in the house. We do it once, properly, and we do it fast — because a house with one bathroom out of action has a clock running.
Where the money matters
Behind the tile first, then the tile.
Waterproofing you’ll never see
Every leak we’ve ever fixed started behind a tile that looked fine. A proper membrane, sloped correctly, tested before a single tile goes down — that is the part of the job we care about most, and the part nobody photographs.
A fan that actually vents outside
A surprising number of bathroom fans blow into the attic. Ours go outside, run quietly, and are sized for the room, which is what keeps the paint on the ceiling and the mould off it.
Keep the plumbing where it is, mostly
The toilet, the drain and the vent stack are expensive to move. Almost every bathroom can feel new without moving them; we’ll tell you if yours is the exception and what the move is worth.
Built for the next thirty years
Blocking in the walls for grab bars, a curbless shower if the framing allows, a wider door. Cheap now, priceless later, and invisible until you need them.
How it runs
The one-bathroom house.
If it’s your only bathroom, the schedule is built backwards from the day the toilet has to work again. The sequence is planned so the plumbing rough-in, the inspection and the waterproofing happen in a row without a gap, and we’ll tell you at the walkthrough how many nights you’re without it — and arrange a temporary solution where we can. The Living with it page has the rest.
Decide early
- Tile and grout. The longest lead time and the biggest visual decision.
- Fixtures. Toilet, vanity, faucets, shower valve — the rough-in is set by the exact models.
- Tub or shower. Both, one, or a tub that becomes a shower later: it changes the plumbing plan.
- Heat. In-floor heat goes in before the tile, not after. Say so now.
Services and permits
Licensed, inspected, in the price.
Plumbing and electrical in a bathroom need a licensed trade and normally a permit and an inspection; we arrange both and build the schedule around the inspection so it never becomes a delay. Services already in place are kept and worked around — tell us where they are, or let us find them at the walkthrough.
Tell us about the bathroom.
Especially the part you’re embarrassed about. We’ve seen worse, and fixed it.
